Justin Cassin – Australian Fashion Week

When Justin Cassin debuted his first full collection at the same fashion week last year we saw a moody, predominantly dark colour scheme for Resort 2018. This year, we saw a transition from the gloom to a controlled use of colour with the same “relaxed sophistication” that the brand is known to radiates.

Justin Cassin is a refined everyday menswear label “inspired by a need to provide the strong independent man with stylish affordable, quality apparel that displays a keen attention to detail”. The line aims to be versatile enough to be worn in all week as well as in weekend casual situations. This is why all of the pieces are “designed for comfort” yet have “meticulous attention to fit.”

The Resort 2019 collection was styled in with natural yet obvious attention to detail with the calculated buttoning and unbuttoning (and placement of buttons) emanating the same light atmosphere as the light-toned floorboards of the runway itself. There was a fearless attitude towards using stripes in button-ups, sweaters and trousers. The varying range of jackets included bombers, trenches and blazers created in linen, cotton and suede materials was a demonstration of the brands newfound penchant for variety. The outfits played as a mix-and-match with earth tones, the epitome of which is two attention seizing outfits: a camel coloured jacket, khaki green shirt paired with white pants and a soft blue boxy coat, cream shirt paired with black trousers. These outfits embodied Justin Cassin’s desire to provide “Style. Quality. Confidence. Relaxed Sophistication.” The runway show was closed with a swim short presentation. The trunks were comparable to the clothing of last year in mainly black and white. There was the addition of a few warm-toned pieces. On the whole, the collection sets an example of how to walk the line between work and casual, with everyday hues, tailored looks, “highest quality materials and superior workmanship”.
