Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, A No Brainer Must Buy
When I get a Switch game I always feel like I’m getting two games for one. I plug the Switch into the TV and I’m playing a console. I pull the Switch out of its cradle and now I have the same game on a portable device. It really is amazing. So much so I wonder why it hasn’t been done before.
For Switch owners Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the ultimate multiplayer game. I love racing games so I was always going to like it but what I didn’t realise was how much my mates, kids and parents would like playing it. My son’s addicted to it and forces his grandparents to play every time they visit. If you’re playing someone who’s not quite good enough to compete you can give them smart steering which helps them keep on the track and auto accelerate which means they just need to worry about steering and shooting.
Four player split screen on a hand held is nuts but works. Four player split screen on your TV is fantastic. It actually pisses me off that Xbox and Sony seem to have forgotten that people like playing each other on the couch not over the internet. With 48 tracks, 42 characters and a battle mode which is fought on 8 dedicated battle courses there is a lot of variety. Initially I didn’t pay much attention to battle mode but now it seems to be the go to for when mates come over. Overall this is a no brainer must buy. I just can’t see how you couldn’t enjoy this game no matter who you are.
