80-Sunreef-Power-(4)

Ones to Watch

This Watch Is Fit For A King

Isaac Taylor

We covered off on the Spirit of Big Bang collection from Hublot with the hugely colourful Spirit of Big Bang Rainbow, which, admittedly, may only be reserved for the bravest among us. For those looking for a more regal piece to wear on your wrist, may I now recommend the Hublot Moonphase King Gold. As the name suggests, the case is satin-finished 18k king gold with black structured lined rubber straps.

The movement is a HUB1770 with two complications and a barrel shape that conforms to the structure of the Big Bang’s case. The skeletonized automatic winding caliber with its 50 hour power reserve, serves as the basis for the sophisticated face of the Moonphase King Gold. In fact the moon phases in question are indicated in a window at the 6 o’clock, while the date is served off centre at 2 o’clock. A small second hand is displayed at 9 o’clock.

Holding it in place is an 18K King Gold and Black-plated Stainless Steel Deployant Buckle Clasp. In keeping with Hublot’s mastery of materials they have actually developed a new type of gold which is a warmer shade than the normal 5N 18K gold. Containing mainly platinum, the exclusive King Gold alloy creates an amazing finish for satin and polishing.

If you think this piece would go perfectly with the rest of your style collection, you can find it in NZ at Partridge Jewellers now.
